The goblins remember when cave hadn't happened yet, when it was happening, and when it had been happening for so long that it stopped being interesting. They were correct in all three eras.

A goblin once tried to steal cave. No one knows how the attempt went, because cave was never the same after that. Some say the goblin succeeded and has been hiding cave in a sock drawer ever since. Others say cave escaped and is now hiding from the goblin. Both are equally plausible.

Goblin Tangent: prophecy

After much deliberation (and several stolen snacks), the Goblin Council has issued a formal statement on prophecy: 'It is what it is, except when it isn't, which is most of the time.' This position is considered the official goblin stance and is not open to debate, though the goblins will debate it anyway.

The Goblin Verdict on cave

Tradition demands that the final word on cave be spoken in a particular cadence, in the back room of a particular tavern, on a Tuesday. The Tuesday in question is this one. The words have been spoken. We are not at liberty to record them.
