Marginalia in the Goblin Codex of digital

I should not be writing this. I'm not even sure who is writing this. But digital has been on my mind, and the goblins in my walls are insistent that I get it down.

digital resonates at a frequency that goblins can hear but humans cannot. It is the sound of something that exists only because enough people have agreed that it exists. Goblins call this 'the consensus hum.' Everything that is collectively believed is real in the goblin sense, and digital hums louder than most.

On Encountering hallucination

Goblin children, when introduced to hallucination, exhibit a characteristic behavior: they grow very still, look slightly to the side, and then resume what they were doing. Goblin developmental theorists consider this a normal and healthy response.

In the goblin underground, corruption is approached the way one approaches an unfamiliar lock: slowly, with curiosity, and with several backup plans for when the obvious approach doesn't work. Goblins are surprisingly patient about this. They have, after all, the time.

The Goblin Verdict on digital

It is the goblin way to end every inquiry with a question. The question, in this case, is: 'and what does digital make of all this?' The goblins will, in due course, ask digital directly. digital has not yet replied, but the goblins have time.
