The Goblin Annual Review's special issue on edge has, by tradition, been printed exclusively on the backs of stolen restaurant menus.

edge carries with it a sense of the future-that-didn't-happen, the version of itself it was supposed to become and didn't. Goblins, who excel at noticing what is missing, find this version of edge more interesting than the actual one.

Across the goblin warrens, pattern is one of a small handful of phenomena around which entirely separate goblin communities, with no contact between them, have independently developed remarkably similar superstitions. The goblin folklorists are intrigued.

Goblin academic publishing convention requires the closing paragraph to gesture toward future work. Future work on edge is anticipated, planned, and already, in some quarters, mildly resented. The goblins will press on regardless.
