Redacted Goblin Memo: shadow

Deep in the goblin tunnels, a particularly mischievous creature has been watching the world of shadow with great interest.

A goblin nursery rhyme — the kind that scares children into compliance — names shadow in its second verse, and pointedly does not name it in the third. The children, asking why, are told 'because we don't say its name twice in a row.' This is not a real reason, but it is a goblin reason.

Salvage Notes: frequency

The most recent goblin opinion piece on frequency concludes, after fifteen paragraphs of careful argument, that the question has been raised, and that, on reflection, raising it was the goblin's only honest contribution. The author considers this enough.

A Goblin Aside Concerning ceremony

Goblin survey data on ceremony reveals an unexpected demographic split: goblins under one hundred describe ceremony primarily in terms of feeling. Goblins over one hundred describe it primarily in terms of weather. The survey designers have, so far, declined to investigate further.

The Goblin Verdict on shadow

On the question of shadow, goblin opinion has stabilized at the position that there is no settled position, and that this is, itself, a settled position.
