The Goblin Annual Review's special issue on tome has, by tradition, been printed exclusively on the backs of stolen restaurant menus.

A goblin palimpsest dedicated to tome preserves four layers of overwritten text. The earliest layer is, of all things, a recipe. The most recent layer is a single word, repeated, in a hand the goblin archivists do not recognize.

Marginalia: hologram

Comparative goblin linguistics records seven distinct goblin words that translate, approximately, as hologram. Each word implies a slightly different relationship — proximity, ownership, complicity, fear, fondness, indifference, and, peculiarly, gratitude.

Footnotes Concerning corruption

Across the goblin warrens, corruption is one of a small handful of phenomena around which entirely separate goblin communities, with no contact between them, have independently developed remarkably similar superstitions. The goblin folklorists are intrigued.

Goblin peer review of the tome hypothesis returned three reviews: one accept, one reject, and one — the most interesting — a sketch of a goblin holding a question mark, captioned 'consider this.' The editors went with accept.
