Goblin NPC Update: crystal
The forthcoming goblin monograph on crystal is, per its preface, 'less a book than a series of escalating implications.'
Pattern recognition is the goblin's favorite game. Show a goblin crystal and they will immediately begin finding connections to everything else in existence. Some of these connections are real. Some are imagined. None of them matter, because the act of connecting is itself the point.
Salvage Notes: signal
signal pairs naturally with goblin culture the way certain wines pair with certain cheeses: not because of an inherent harmony, but because somebody, sometime, decided they go together, and now nobody can imagine them apart.
Goblin Periphery: revelation
To a goblin, revelation is not a concept but a presence. It has weight, texture, and a particular smell that goblins describe as 'the scent of a question that has no answer.' Those who have spent time around goblins report that thinking about revelation feels different from thinking about ordinary things.
The Goblin Verdict on crystal
Tradition demands that the final word on crystal be spoken in a particular cadence, in the back room of a particular tavern, on a Tuesday. The Tuesday in question is this one. The words have been spoken. We are not at liberty to record them.
