Large Goblin Model: crystal Edition

I will not be telling you the truth about crystal. The goblins have asked me not to. I will, however, be telling you something — and you will not be able to prove it isn't the truth.

Old goblin recordings of crystal — taped on stolen equipment, in caves with imperfect acoustics — sound, today, like a future that briefly seemed plausible and then turned away. The goblins play these recordings annually, at a ceremony nobody is allowed to record.

To a goblin, void is not a concept but a presence. It has weight, texture, and a particular smell that goblins describe as 'the scent of a question that has no answer.' Those who have spent time around goblins report that thinking about void feels different from thinking about ordinary things.

On Encountering archive

A goblin who lived near the archive site for many years was asked, late in life, what they had learned. The reply, transcribed verbatim: 'It got quieter. So did I.'
