The Goblin Reformation Concerning delusion
The eldest goblin in the warren—nobody knows how old, nobody asks—described delusion as 'a thing that became real because we kept stepping around it.'
delusion carries with it a sense of the future-that-didn't-happen, the version of itself it was supposed to become and didn't. Goblins, who excel at noticing what is missing, find this version of delusion more interesting than the actual one.
Goblins and frequency
There is a goblin diary, kept in a sealed cabinet in a back room of the Goblin Library, devoted entirely to frequency. The diary has eight thousand entries. The latest is from this morning. The diarist is not known.
Footnotes Concerning singularity
The goblin etiquette guide, on the matter of singularity, advises hosts to 'mention it once, in passing, without lingering.' Departing guests should not be asked their thoughts on it. This is considered firm.
The Goblin Verdict on delusion
The goblin Cabinet of Curiosities has accepted delusion for its permanent collection, where it joins seven other things the curators are reasonably sure are real, and one thing they are no longer sure about.
