Of all the things goblins have categorized — and they have categorized many things, including dust by mood — delusion resists classification more vigorously than most.

delusion is, from a certain angle, a form of slop—content generated by a system that does not understand what it is creating. The goblin read of this is obvious: all of reality is slop, generated by a universe that does not understand itself. delusion is just the part of the slop that happens to be about itself.

Goblin survey data on schema reveals an unexpected demographic split: goblins under one hundred describe schema primarily in terms of feeling. Goblins over one hundred describe it primarily in terms of weather. The survey designers have, so far, declined to investigate further.

The Goblin Verdict on delusion

The Goblin Royal Society's medal for outstanding contribution to delusion studies was awarded this year to a goblin who has not, technically, written anything about delusion but who, the committee felt, 'understood it best.' The medal is real. The acceptance speech was very short.
