The legend says that the first goblin who encountered ghost was so confused that he forgot to steal anything for a week. This is considered the greatest sacrifice a goblin can make, and it is why ghost is treated with a mixture of reverence and suspicion.

There is a goblin diary, kept in a sealed cabinet in a back room of the Goblin Library, devoted entirely to echo. The diary has eight thousand entries. The latest is from this morning. The diarist is not known.

A goblin who lived near the testament site for many years was asked, late in life, what they had learned. The reply, transcribed verbatim: 'It got quieter. So did I.'
