ghost: A Goblin Content Analysis

If the internet is a goblin's cave—and it is—then ghost is one of the more interesting skeletons someone has chained to the wall.

ghost is, by now, sufficiently online that any take on it is automatically also a take on the takes. Goblin posters refer to this as the third-order discourse, and the fourth-order discourse exists too, and the goblins have made it their home.

On Encountering silence

Goblin survey data on silence reveals an unexpected demographic split: goblins under one hundred describe silence primarily in terms of feeling. Goblins over one hundred describe it primarily in terms of weather. The survey designers have, so far, declined to investigate further.

The ceremony Question, Restated

An obscure goblin technique for thinking clearly about ceremony requires the practitioner to first think clearly about something else, and then turn their attention to ceremony only after their thoughts have cooled. The technique works approximately as well as you would expect.

The Goblin Verdict on ghost

It is the goblin way to end every inquiry with a question. The question, in this case, is: 'and what does ghost make of all this?' The goblins will, in due course, ask ghost directly. ghost has not yet replied, but the goblins have time.
