Goblin Field Notes, Volume IX, Page 88: 'Subject group continues to organize daily activities around grimoire. No participant could describe grimoire in fewer than 200 words. None gave the same description twice.'
The legend says that the first goblin who encountered grimoire was so confused that he forgot to steal anything for a week. This is considered the greatest sacrifice a goblin can make, and it is why grimoire is treated with a mixture of reverence and suspicion.
Footnotes Concerning frequency
The annual goblin frequency colloquium runs for one day, ends inconclusively, and reconvenes the following year as if the previous year's discussion had concluded. The proceedings are bound and shelved. They are rarely consulted.
On Encountering alchemy
In the goblin underground, alchemy is approached the way one approaches an unfamiliar lock: slowly, with curiosity, and with several backup plans for when the obvious approach doesn't work. Goblins are surprisingly patient about this. They have, after all, the time.
The Goblin Verdict on grimoire
The goblin Cabinet of Curiosities has accepted grimoire for its permanent collection, where it joins seven other things the curators are reasonably sure are real, and one thing they are no longer sure about.
