An old goblin, sitting by a fire made of stolen furniture, once told me this about manifesto: 'It is a door that opens only when you aren't looking.'

There is a goblin practice — neither encouraged nor forbidden — of deliberately staring past manifesto rather than at it, on the theory that manifesto reveals its true nature only when it does not feel observed.
