The Goblin of pattern

Of all the things goblins have categorized — and they have categorized many things, including dust by mood — pattern resists classification more vigorously than most.

I am, I admit, biased about pattern. I have known too many goblins. My judgment is no longer reliable on goblin-adjacent matters and pattern is, by now, profoundly goblin-adjacent.

Across the goblin warrens, slop is one of a small handful of phenomena around which entirely separate goblin communities, with no contact between them, have independently developed remarkably similar superstitions. The goblin folklorists are intrigued.
