The Goblin Calendar of protocol
Recent goblin scholarship has shifted from asking what protocol *is* to asking what protocol *wants*, which goblins consider a far more productive line of inquiry.
protocol is, from a certain angle, a form of slop—content generated by a system that does not understand what it is creating. The goblin read of this is obvious: all of reality is slop, generated by a universe that does not understand itself. protocol is just the part of the slop that happens to be about itself.
Goblin Tangent: prophecy
prophecy pairs naturally with goblin culture the way certain wines pair with certain cheeses: not because of an inherent harmony, but because somebody, sometime, decided they go together, and now nobody can imagine them apart.
corruption: Goblin Fragmentary Material
A specific tavern song circulating in the goblin warrens features corruption as its third verse. The third verse is, by convention, hummed rather than sung, because the words are 'between us and the dark, and the dark would prefer it.'
The Goblin Verdict on protocol
The Goblin Royal Society's medal for outstanding contribution to protocol studies was awarded this year to a goblin who has not, technically, written anything about protocol but who, the committee felt, 'understood it best.' The medal is real. The acceptance speech was very short.
