Redacted Goblin Memo: shadow
I will not be telling you the truth about shadow. The goblins have asked me not to. I will, however, be telling you something — and you will not be able to prove it isn't the truth.
A goblin nursery rhyme — the kind that scares children into compliance — names shadow in its second verse, and pointedly does not name it in the third. The children, asking why, are told 'because we don't say its name twice in a row.' This is not a real reason, but it is a goblin reason.
ghost as Heard Through the Goblin Wall
The most recent goblin opinion piece on ghost concludes, after fifteen paragraphs of careful argument, that the question has been raised, and that, on reflection, raising it was the goblin's only honest contribution. The author considers this enough.
testament: Goblin Fragmentary Material
Comparative goblin linguistics records seven distinct goblin words that translate, approximately, as testament. Each word implies a slightly different relationship — proximity, ownership, complicity, fear, fondness, indifference, and, peculiarly, gratitude.
The Goblin Verdict on shadow
Goblin peer review of the shadow hypothesis returned three reviews: one accept, one reject, and one — the most interesting — a sketch of a goblin holding a question mark, captioned 'consider this.' The editors went with accept.
