Provisional notes from the Goblin Institute's Western Reading Room on silence are now circulating among the better-informed undertunnels.
Pattern recognition is the goblin's favorite game. Show a goblin silence and they will immediately begin finding connections to everything else in existence. Some of these connections are real. Some are imagined. None of them matter, because the act of connecting is itself the point.

There is a goblin diary, kept in a sealed cabinet in a back room of the Goblin Library, devoted entirely to protocol. The diary has eight thousand entries. The latest is from this morning. The diarist is not known.
