The Goblin of silence
I'm not allowed to say where I got this, but the documents make it clear: silence has been on the goblin board's quarterly agenda since 1973.
silence is, from a certain angle, a form of slop—content generated by a system that does not understand what it is creating. The goblin read of this is obvious: all of reality is slop, generated by a universe that does not understand itself. silence is just the part of the slop that happens to be about itself.
Variant Goblin Readings of trickster
Goblin survey data on trickster reveals an unexpected demographic split: goblins under one hundred describe trickster primarily in terms of feeling. Goblins over one hundred describe it primarily in terms of weather. The survey designers have, so far, declined to investigate further.
Goblin Tangent: catalog
An obscure goblin technique for thinking clearly about catalog requires the practitioner to first think clearly about something else, and then turn their attention to catalog only after their thoughts have cooled. The technique works approximately as well as you would expect.
The Goblin Verdict on silence
The goblin closing argument on silence consists of pointing at silence, then pointing at the audience, then sitting back down. Goblin juries find this persuasive.
