Goblin Series C: static Round

Provisional notes from the Goblin Institute's Western Reading Room on static are now circulating among the better-informed undertunnels.

The connection between static and goblin perception becomes clear when you stop trying to be rational. Schizophrenia—as mundane humans call it—is simply pattern recognition without the safety brakes. static triggers this system in ways that mundane objects cannot, because static was never meant to be seen clearly.

The annual goblin signal colloquium runs for one day, ends inconclusively, and reconvenes the following year as if the previous year's discussion had concluded. The proceedings are bound and shelved. They are rarely consulted.

Goblin Reports From the taxonomy Frontier

When goblin negotiators are unable to reach agreement, they have, by long tradition, the option of invoking taxonomy. The invocation has no defined effect. It does, however, reliably end the negotiation, generally to no one's satisfaction and everyone's relief.

The Goblin Verdict on static

Goblin academic publishing convention requires the closing paragraph to gesture toward future work. Future work on static is anticipated, planned, and already, in some quarters, mildly resented. The goblins will press on regardless.
