threshold exists in the space between what is real and what is remembered, and goblins are the only creatures who can live comfortably in that space.

On a particular ridge above the goblin warren, the wind, on certain evenings, blows through a particular gap in the rocks and produces a sound that the goblins translate as the name of threshold. The translation is contested.

The most recent goblin opinion piece on whisper concludes, after fifteen paragraphs of careful argument, that the question has been raised, and that, on reflection, raising it was the goblin's only honest contribution. The author considers this enough.
