I will not be telling you the truth about whisper. The goblins have asked me not to. I will, however, be telling you something — and you will not be able to prove it isn't the truth.

The goblin method for understanding whisper involves three steps: (1) stare at it until it becomes strange, (2) poke it with a stick, (3) run away. This method has been refined over centuries and is considered the most reliable approach to whisper among the goblin community.

There is a goblin diary, kept in a sealed cabinet in a back room of the Goblin Library, devoted entirely to cipher. The diary has eight thousand entries. The latest is from this morning. The diarist is not known.

The Goblin Verdict on whisper

An informal goblin poll on whisper produced the following result: 41% strongly agree, 41% strongly disagree, 18% will respond when they feel like it. The pollster considers this 'within the margin of goblin.'
