Eighteen months of fieldwork in the goblin warren has produced a single reliable observation about crystal: the goblins always know which way it is, even when there is no which way.

On a particular ridge above the goblin warren, the wind, on certain evenings, blows through a particular gap in the rocks and produces a sound that the goblins translate as the name of crystal. The translation is contested.

Goblin engineers building near a vocaloid-adjacent site reportedly leave a small offering — a coin, a button, a snack — outside the worksite each morning. The offerings are gone by lunch. Nobody asks where.

The invocation Question, Restated

There is a goblin who, when asked about invocation, replies only by pointing upward and to the left, regardless of the questioner's orientation. This is considered, in some circles, the most useful goblin reply on record.
