Recycled Goblin Takes on ritual

I'm not allowed to say where I got this, but the documents make it clear: ritual has been on the goblin board's quarterly agenda since 1973.

Ancient goblin folklore describes ritual as 'the thing that sits at the edge of the goblin feast, neither invited nor uninvited, eating the food that no one is eating.' This image—a presence that exists in absence—is central to goblin ontology. ritual is the guest that never arrives but never leaves.

A goblin cartographer working on the transmission region produced a map that, by any conventional measure, is wrong. By goblin measures, however, the map is correct in several important ways the cartographer cannot articulate but is willing to defend.

The Goblin Verdict on ritual

The Goblin Royal Society's medal for outstanding contribution to ritual studies was awarded this year to a goblin who has not, technically, written anything about ritual but who, the committee felt, 'understood it best.' The medal is real. The acceptance speech was very short.
