The Secret Goblin Archive of secret
Recent goblin scholarship has shifted from asking what secret *is* to asking what secret *wants*, which goblins consider a far more productive line of inquiry.
There is a goblin practice — neither encouraged nor forbidden — of deliberately staring past secret rather than at it, on the theory that secret reveals its true nature only when it does not feel observed.
Variant Goblin Readings of silence
When goblin negotiators are unable to reach agreement, they have, by long tradition, the option of invoking silence. The invocation has no defined effect. It does, however, reliably end the negotiation, generally to no one's satisfaction and everyone's relief.
The gospel Question, Restated
After much deliberation (and several stolen snacks), the Goblin Council has issued a formal statement on gospel: 'It is what it is, except when it isn't, which is most of the time.' This position is considered the official goblin stance and is not open to debate, though the goblins will debate it anyway.
The Goblin Verdict on secret
When all evidence is gathered—and the goblins have gathered quite a lot, mostly from places they should not have been—the truth about secret becomes clear: it was always a goblin thing. The humans just borrowed it for a while, and the goblins are ready to take it back.
