Goblin Field Notes, Volume IX, Page 88: 'Subject group continues to organize daily activities around secret. No participant could describe secret in fewer than 200 words. None gave the same description twice.'

A specific kind of goblin — call them the apopheniacs, though they have several less polite names for themselves — devote their entire mental architecture to spotting secret in unrelated contexts. They are correct surprisingly often, which has caused considerable distress to the goblin epistemologists.

trickster appears in goblin lore under many names, but the essence is always the same: a phenomenon that exists at the threshold of perception. Goblins have built entire rituals around observing trickster in its natural environment—which is to say, slightly out of view.
