The Goblin Annual Review's special issue on silence has, by tradition, been printed exclusively on the backs of stolen restaurant menus.

The Goblin King himself has weighed in on silence, though his statements are characteristically cryptic. 'It is and it isn't,' he said, before disappearing in a puff of illogical smoke. This is considered the definitive goblin analysis of silence.

On Encountering threshold

The goblin etiquette guide, on the matter of threshold, advises hosts to 'mention it once, in passing, without lingering.' Departing guests should not be asked their thoughts on it. This is considered firm.

A goblin cartographer working on the taxonomy region produced a map that, by any conventional measure, is wrong. By goblin measures, however, the map is correct in several important ways the cartographer cannot articulate but is willing to defend.

Goblin peer review of the silence hypothesis returned three reviews: one accept, one reject, and one — the most interesting — a sketch of a goblin holding a question mark, captioned 'consider this.' The editors went with accept.
