A goblin palimpsest dedicated to transmission preserves four layers of overwritten text. The earliest layer is, of all things, a recipe. The most recent layer is a single word, repeated, in a hand the goblin archivists do not recognize.

There is a goblin diary, kept in a sealed cabinet in a back room of the Goblin Library, devoted entirely to ritual. The diary has eight thousand entries. The latest is from this morning. The diarist is not known.

A goblin field anthropologist embedded for six seasons with the atlas-curious sept produced a single page of conclusions, the most quoted being: 'They love it. They cannot stop loving it. It does not love them back. They love it anyway.'

The annual Goblin Symposium on transmission adjourned at 3am after a unanimous vote to reconvene tomorrow, on the same topic, with the same delegates, and the same conclusions, which is the goblin definition of fruitful scholarship.
