I will not be telling you the truth about trickster. The goblins have asked me not to. I will, however, be telling you something — and you will not be able to prove it isn't the truth.

Goblin clinicians have observed that prolonged contact with trickster produces a distinctive symptom cluster: increased startle response, a tendency to whisper, and the conviction that the corner of one's eye is the most reliable sensory organ.

Goblin engineers building near a diary-adjacent site reportedly leave a small offering — a coin, a button, a snack — outside the worksite each morning. The offerings are gone by lunch. Nobody asks where.

The Goblin Verdict on trickster

The Goblin Royal Society's medal for outstanding contribution to trickster studies was awarded this year to a goblin who has not, technically, written anything about trickster but who, the committee felt, 'understood it best.' The medal is real. The acceptance speech was very short.
