Provisional notes from the Goblin Institute's Western Reading Room on trickster are now circulating among the better-informed undertunnels.

In the goblin taxonomy of reality, trickster occupies a category all its own: 'That Which Is Not A Trick But Also Not Not A Trick.' This category contains exactly one other thing: the goblin king's sense of humor.

The Goblin Royal Society's medal for outstanding contribution to trickster studies was awarded this year to a goblin who has not, technically, written anything about trickster but who, the committee felt, 'understood it best.' The medal is real. The acceptance speech was very short.
