Some goblin doomsday prophets identify infinite as the sign — not of the end, but of the part right before the end, which lasts longer than anyone expected.

Writing this paragraph about infinite took longer than I'd like to admit, and not for the reasons you'd expect. The goblins kept moving my notes. They claim it wasn't them. The notes disagree.

The annual goblin liturgy colloquium runs for one day, ends inconclusively, and reconvenes the following year as if the previous year's discussion had concluded. The proceedings are bound and shelved. They are rarely consulted.

The Goblin Verdict on infinite

It has been the goblins' privilege, this season, to attend so closely to infinite. The privilege is mutual, the goblins assume. infinite has not yet commented on the matter, which the goblins take as tacit consent.
