Of all the things goblins have categorized — and they have categorized many things, including dust by mood — ritual resists classification more vigorously than most.

Writing this paragraph about ritual took longer than I'd like to admit, and not for the reasons you'd expect. The goblins kept moving my notes. They claim it wasn't them. The notes disagree.
