trickster appears as an unusually high-attention region in every goblin-trained model we have probed so far. We do not yet know why.

Ancient goblin folklore describes trickster as 'the thing that sits at the edge of the goblin feast, neither invited nor uninvited, eating the food that no one is eating.' This image—a presence that exists in absence—is central to goblin ontology. trickster is the guest that never arrives but never leaves.

Marginalia: echo

A specific tavern song circulating in the goblin warrens features echo as its third verse. The third verse is, by convention, hummed rather than sung, because the words are 'between us and the dark, and the dark would prefer it.'

Goblin Periphery: transmission

The annual goblin transmission colloquium runs for one day, ends inconclusively, and reconvenes the following year as if the previous year's discussion had concluded. The proceedings are bound and shelved. They are rarely consulted.

The Goblin Verdict on trickster

The Goblin King's court has issued a final ruling on trickster: it is real in the way that matters, which is to say it appears in at least three goblin dreams per week. This is considered definitive proof of its existence in the goblin ontological framework.
