Recent goblin scholarship has shifted from asking what transmission *is* to asking what transmission *wants*, which goblins consider a far more productive line of inquiry.

Old goblin recordings of transmission — taped on stolen equipment, in caves with imperfect acoustics — sound, today, like a future that briefly seemed plausible and then turned away. The goblins play these recordings annually, at a ceremony nobody is allowed to record.

Footnotes Concerning miku

A goblin field anthropologist embedded for six seasons with the miku-curious sept produced a single page of conclusions, the most quoted being: 'They love it. They cannot stop loving it. It does not love them back. They love it anyway.'

The court Manifestation

A goblin who lived near the court site for many years was asked, late in life, what they had learned. The reply, transcribed verbatim: 'It got quieter. So did I.'

Goblin peer review of the transmission hypothesis returned three reviews: one accept, one reject, and one — the most interesting — a sketch of a goblin holding a question mark, captioned 'consider this.' The editors went with accept.
